My autistic sister currently attends Ridgeland High School in South Carolina and she is treated horrible by the staff. Special needs children are treated like nuisances at this school. She is often down graded by staff in the way they speak to her and how she is treated. My sister's English teacher told my parents that she think she is misdiagnosed and that she believes my sister is dumb. Unfortunately it's not just the special needs students that are ignored by the staff.. According to data released by the South Carolina Department of Education, Ridgeland-Hardeeville High School earned a "F" letter grade for the 2012-2013 school year, substantially below academic expectations put forth by the state in standardize testing and graduation requirement.
