Close the prison at Guantanamo Bay.

Created by C.W. on April 15, 2013

The Guantanamo Bay detention camp was opened in January of 2002 to hold detainees thought to be involved in terrorism. Eleven years of this embarrassment is enough. Either there is evidence of wrongdoing for which prisoners can be convicted and sentenced or there is not and they should be sent home.

If we continue to stoop to the level of our enemies haven't they already won? All we do by leaving these individuals in legal limbo is make more enemies of our country while committing human rights violations that we would rail against were they to happen in any other place.

Eleven years (four of which were under the current administration) is unacceptable. We petition the Obama administration to live up to its commitment from the 2008 election and close the Guantanamo Bay detention camp.
