close schools on the 2 days of eid during the year, muslim students deserve having their religious holidays off as well

Created by F.K. on August 29, 2015

Every year public schools in america celebrate & give off holidays for christian & catholic communities, such as christmas, good friday, easter; where I live jewish holidays like rosh hashanah are also given off. So why is it that muslim religious holidays such as Eid are not? It isn't fair that in PUBLIC schools, CHRISTIAN & CATHOLIC people are given more benefits. Obviously in private religious schools it is different, those schools are built on religious fundamentals. But public schools are not supposed to be religious, they are for EVERYONE. The muslim population is quickly growing and some places, such as New York City, have already started giving Eid off. Muslims students should be given a day off from school on Eid, just like peers who celebrate Good Friday are given that day off.
