In response to the recent mass gun violence in places like Sandy Hook Elementary, this petition is to legally require movie theaters to abide by the motion picture ratings. The continued marketing of violent movies to children is part of the multi-faceted problem that is mass gun violence.
This petition is a two part request:
1) Require any movie that visually shows death by gun violence to be MPAA Rated R.
2) Children under 17 are not allowed to attend R-rated motion pictures unaccompanied by a parent or adult guardian. All movie theaters shall be held legally responsible for any instance that an under-aged child is allowed into a Rated R movie. Breaking the law will be fined $10,000 per instance (at least).
