The U.S., Russia, China, Japan and India have each crashed probes or deliberately discarded toxic garbage on the pristine surface of the Moon, our natural satellite that belongs to no one and everyone. These nations, led by the example of The U.S., continue to tacitly and explicitly claim land for their own national interest for potential development, mining, etc. Several corporations have plans for tourism or even colonies.
Those signing this petition urge President Obama, our ambassadors and NASA to work with other nations and environmental organizations to declare the lunar landscape a protected wilderness and sanctuary for all future generations. We think it appropriate to name this reserve in honor of the first human to step on the surface: The Neil Armstrong Moon Wilderness.
