Employees of business that have sent their operations overseas face dire employment prospects in their local areas. These workers already have all the skills necessary to operate their own businesses. They will never outsource their own jobs to other countries. Providing support (financial, tax) for these workers will also enable their current communities to thrive.
The SBA already offers a variety of loans to support small businesses, but none are specifically designed to aid groups of dislocated workers. If the SBA, working in partnership with non-profit organizations that concern themselves with Employee Stock Ownership Plans, could create loans and business development programs to meet this specific need, employment prospects and job security could improve for many people.
