Combat Veteran's being forced to repay sign-on or reenlistment bonuses after completing multiple combat tours

Created by B.H. on October 22, 2016

It is an injustice and utmost sign of disrespect to veteran's who served combat tours to be forced to repay bonuses that was promised to them by their command post. An agreement was created between the soldier and the government for services of the veteran. The services have been rendered but now the treasury office claims these were over payments even when a contract is produced. Veterans are able to appeal the demand for repayment but it is a long, long process and can take months and even years to resolve. During this process interest is being added to the amount "owed", liens are being placed on properties, garnishes against wages are issued, families struggle, and credit is ruined at no fault of the veteran.
