As a former employee of the NSA, having been deceived by my own government, I think it's time our government comes clean with the NSA and CIA's roles in modern society. It's not a matter of maturity, it's a matter of moving forward creating a new relationship for our society.
Not only is it time to discuss the technology that's available - clones, robotics, alternate realities, time travel, and space travel, now is the time the public deserves to know 'the truth' about why this technology is being suppressed, and trust the public is at a mature enough stage in it's development to handle this.
It's time to discuss why there's digs going on as we speak in Antarctica, and the truth behind Stargates, and our nation's (and world's) 'fictionalized' history of AI and robotic warfare.
