Evidence of terrible atrocities being committed against the LGBT community in Russia is appearing across social media. These Russian citizens are being violently harassed and bullied by street thugs and extremists. The police and other Russian organizations that are supposed to keep the peace are not only not protecting these protesters, but at times it has even been evidenced that they are joining in on the violence.
This is not a petition for the Obama administration to speak on a lack of civil rights in Russia, such as gays and lesbians not being able to get married or adopt children. These are issues that a democratic country must address in its own right. This is a petition to ask the President to speak out against the senseless violence that is being committed and call for its end.
