A National Aqueduct would be a series of pipelines, reservoirs and pumping stations crisscrossing and connecting the 48 states and Alaska. Construction could follow Interstate highways or appropriate natural contours and would provide relief for drought or flood prone areas as well as economic benefits to those who would build and maintain the system including construction workers, engineers, heavy equipment manufacturers and materials suppliers.
We are experiencing frequent and wide-spread occurrences of both drought and flooding. A national aqueduct could lessen the impact by allowing for flow of water to areas affected by drought and from areas affected by flooding. The system could be paid for by usage fees from private and public users of water in drought or wildfire stricken areas.
