As a person who has worked in retail, I have personally witnessed thousands of dollars of food stamp money being spent on foods with very little nutritional value.
The purpose of food stamp programs is to help farmers to sell their crops, and to help families to feed themselves with healthy food.
Allowing aspartame and high fructose corn syrup to be purchased with the funds seems to make it more difficult to accomplish either goal.
I would like to see a study on the effects that such policies have had on public health, and domestic farming.
This info could then be made available to the public, and policy making organizations. This would promote public awareness, and positive policy change.
Take action on this relatively non controversial issue and help improve the health of children.
