The worst thing about poverty is that it can often effect a child's access to a safe and supportive educational environment. While we already provide help for low-income families designed to level the playing field in terms of access to quality education, there remains a stark difference between the educational experience that a low-income child will have when compared those who are more well-off in society.
Much of this is environment. Many of our children are born into families that are struggling to make ends meet. This struggle often effects a parent's ability to provide a safe environment, both emotional and physical, for their children.
We ask that a committee be formed to research the effects of poverty on education and to propose solutions designed to address this issue.
