Commit to United Nations Security Council reform

The United Nations Security Council has five permanent members, who got the position by being the major victors of World War II (US, UK, France, Russia and China). Each one can veto any resolution not to its liking, giving them enormous power compared to other countries and rendering certain pressing issues un-addressable by the organization. The UNSC has an important role to play in international affairs, but if it is to fulfill that role in an equitable and legitimate manner, reforms need to be made such as expanding the number of permanent members and greatly limiting or abolishing altogether the veto power. The US should stand up for fairness in the international arena by supporting UNSC reform, even though it will mean giving up a position of unfair dominance.
