In 2000, Mr. Anderson was convicted of armed robbery, and sentenced to 13 years in prison. He was directed to await instructions, on when to report to prison. He was never instructed to do so. In the mean time, he continued living a normal life, married with children, working and paying taxes, maintaining a driver's license under his real name and address even paying traffic tickets, and not once did the state realize their mistake, till now. The statute of limitations on armed robbery expire after 3 years, according to Missouri Criminal Code Chapter 556.036 section 2.1. Had their been other related convictions, 5 years is the max.
Mr. Anderson lead a respectable life, showing Rehabilitation, which is the true intended purpose of a prison sentence. He made a mistake, only one.
