Commute the sentence of Sholom Rubashkin to 5 years in Federal Prison. 27 is too much.

Created by B.K. on October 05, 2011

Sholom Rubashkin was convicted in Federal Court of serious offenses and sentenced to 27 years. Many believe he has been mistreated by the Justice System, and that Prosecutors and Judges have overreached or even colluded against him.

That is nonsense. Mr. Rubashkin was fairly convicted. His sentence is just too long. He is a nonviolent offender who had no prior record. 27 years is too long to spend in Prison for his financial crimes. A murderer probably spends less time, on average, in prison than he will under this sentence. Shouldn't we lock them up for just as long?

Rubashkin's business has been taken away from him and his reputation is ruined. 5 years in Federal Prison will be enough punishment. Please commute his sentence. He's not innocent; but he's not this guilty, either.
