The Clemency Report scoured the country to find the Top 25 women deserving sentence commutations based on their moral character and inappropriate length of sentence.
This is a moral and humanitarian request based on Justice Felix Frankfurter's idea: "Justice must satisfy the appearance of justice."
The shameful thing about these unjust sentences -- such as life without parole for non-violent drug offenses -- is most are entirely legal. Presidential clemency is an extra-legal review to ensure true justice. It is not a mere assessment of legal technicalities.
We ask that you consider the humanity of these women, their families and others like them and say, " Enough. We love you. We believe in you. You may go home to your families now."
