COMPEL THE FAA TO CEASE DIRECTING A DISPROPORTIONATE VOLUME OF AIR TRAFFIC OVER SEATTLE'S POOR & MINORITY NEIGHBORHOODS.

Created by R.A. on January 19, 2013

Starting in the 1990's, the Federal Aviation Administration began manipulating air traffic routes to create a disproportionate impact on Seattle's largest low-income and minority neighborhoods. In 2012, the FAA "discovered" that a new air route over southeast Seattle was implemented in violation of National Environmental Policy Act rules. The FAA "corrected" their mistake, and ceased using the new air route, while informing residents of their intention to pursue official approval to use the same air route in the future.

The health and quality of life of this large and diverse community are in jeopardy. There are reasonable alternatives to the current air traffic plan. The FAA should be encouraged to work with residents to develop solutions to protect the health of this community.
