Whereas individual interests of career politicians often supercede the interests of the people and contradict the founders' intended governmental model of "citizen legislators", and
Whereas corporate interests fueled by monetary campaign contributions, lobbying and enduring relationships between politicians and their contributors often compel those politicians to act in ways that may or may not represent the best interests of their constituents,
We the people do hereby demand that a term limit of not more than two four-year terms of office per elected official per office held be imposed for all elected officials in the Senate and House of Representatives.
