Compel government officials to perform duties, allowing for religious beliefs as honorable reason for leaving office.

In a recent case a Kentucky clerk responsible for performing civil marriages refused to, against federal orders, perform the duties of the office for which she was elected. Freedom of religion entitles her to not perform those duties, but it also entitles numerous couples who want to be married to be free from her religious views. She needs to perform the ceremonies, recuse herself from office, or go to prison for contempt of court.
