Compel the Indiana DNR to drop charges & prosecution against police officer Jeff Counceller for rescuing a baby deer.

Created by C.S. on January 29, 2013

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources had charged a veteran Connersville, IN policeman and his wife with illegal possession of a white tailed deer. Officer Jeff Counceller rescued an injured baby deer and he and his wife nursed it back to health on his 17 acre farm, not knowing this was illegal in Indiana. The Counceller's tried to find a petting zoo or deer farm for their rescued fawn before the DNR could force the deer to be euthanized. The deer escaped prior to being put down by the DNR. Six months after this occurred, the DNR has filed charges and is using a special prosecutor and judge to fine and threaten the Counceller's with jail time. Stop this punishment for those with compassion and this incredible waste of taxpayer resources on nonsense.
