It is frequently heard that our legislators are out of touch with the conditions we face as average Americans. The recent chemical spill in West Virginia has contaminated the public drinking water supply in many cities of West Virginia. A month later, it was reported that area schools are still restricting the drinking of tap water out of concern for the children's safety.
We propose that our congressional legislators be compelled to share the "experience" of West Virginia residents by having to drink the same water as the children of West Virginia. Additionally, they should share the "experience" of West Virginia parents by having to serve the same water to their children.
