Compel the Republican party, which has forsaken the ideals of republicanism as a form of government, to change it's name

Created by J.D. on September 23, 2015

Republicanism, meaning the supporting of an egalitarian republican government in opposition to a monarchy, is a well defined thing. It is not a thing that the Republican Party has stood for for a long time.

The Republican Party has been responsible for the growth of the 'Imperial Presidency' in the United States, a phrase that by it's very nature indicates diametric opposition to a republic and republican government.

We recognise the First Amendment grants the right to campaign for anything a party may like, up to and including the restoration of a Monarchy, but we believe words should have meaning.

We call for an official resolution to rename the Republican Party to a name more befitting a party that gave up on the Republic a long time ago.
