Compel states to repeal mandatory lifetime sex offender registry for rehabilitated, youthful, and first time offenders

Created by B.T. on November 14, 2012

We need to repeal the mandatory lifetime sex offender registration laws for youthful and first time offenders

Often, offenders on the sex offender registry committed only one crime and have been fully rehabilitated while still being persecuted, sometimes, thirty years later

The children of sex offenders are the most hurt. Often, they suffer harassment, ridicule and live in poverty or on public assistance due to the offender parent having little hope for securing gainful employment

The lifetime registration requirement prohibits the offender from reintegrating into society by preventing gainful employment, preventing higher education and preventing the desire for personal growth by destroying self esteem

Lifetime registration is cruel, unjust, unconstitutional, lifetime punishment
