If one considers the location of all of the mass-murders in the past 20 years you can see that "gun-free" zones are easy targets for unstable individuals.
I propose that in replacement we place a heavier legal burden for those possessing unlicensed firearms in these areas.
It is crucial that this aspect be thoroughly considered and that licensed individuals who are staff members be encouraged to carry their weapon.
If local, state and federal goverents cannot afford to protect citizens and their children then steps must be taken to ensure they are able to defend themselves. Teachers, principles and administrators are our first lines of defense.
