The FBI has persuaded a judge to demand that Apple Inc. provide a means to unlock/bypass security protections built into its iPhones, in order to get information from one of the two terrorists involved in the San Bernadino shootings, even though law enforcement is reported to have been able to get information from one of the 2 persons' phones. The FBI and court claim that they only want a one-time software/other tool .
But as Apple's Tim Cook pointed out, this would negate the 1st Amendment protection of privacy, & be most likely to reduce, rather than increase Americans' safety in the long run. Once there's a way, "backdoor" or not, criminals &/or hackers will find a way in - "it's what they do." The US needs to look at other ways to get information to trap terrorists, not reduce rights.
