A 1979 Subaru FE averaged over 54 mpg! So did the Geo Metro and Suzuki Sprint! The 4 cylinder Subaru FE seated 4 adults comfortably, had a carbureted (not EFI) engine that displaced TWICE that of a "Smart Car", yet got better MPG than a "Smart car" AND most 2012 Hybrids? Yes it did!
Why does a "Smart car" only get 42 MPG? It got over 72 MPG when it first was created!
There IS something going on with MPG and it is hurting the environment.
The 1980 Subaru FE was rated at 70 MPG and the USA REFUSED to allow it to be sold in the USA! Why?
It has been over 30 years! Why are new cars getting LESS MPG than they did over three decades ago?
I own a 2003 Grand Am. The "check Engine" light comes on when the car gets 29 miles per gallon. It goes off if the car gets 25 MPG!!!!!
WHY, what is going on?
