Completely revamp the current tax system by eliminating the current tax system and adopting the fair tax.

I would like to see congress adopt this new and much fairer tax system. I would like to hear compelling arguments in plain english for why they haven't adopted it already. I have heard that it would cause an underground barter system that would totally undermine the tax. I do not believe this to be the case. People will still want the newest phone, car, or boat. People still want the latest fashions. A small group may resort to a barter system but that is what America is about (being different and diverse). America used to be on the edge of pioneering ideas and technologies but now we have allowed other countries to beat us in many of the fields we used to be leaders in. The average person is being taxed at every turn. It is time everyone pays their fair share.
