Comprehensive Mental Health Legislation Before Gun Control

Created by S.S. on January 17, 2013

While there is merit to having a healthy debate regarding gun control legislation, the people of the United States would be better served by a comprehensive mental health initiative that seeks to not only provide mental health services to children and young adults, but also attempts to tackle the issues of adult mental health services. This initiative should include but not be limited to mental health specialists provided in public schools, rather than trying to train unqualified teachers and guidance counselors to "recognize" the signs of mental illness. Fully fund a mental health initiative before tackling the issue of gun control.
