compromise on gun control by requiring federally issued licenses to purchase weapons & munitions instead of weapon bans

In order to drive, we have to go to school, take test, have a medical review and continuously update a license. The same should be required for firearms. Military/government members who train/qualify to carry weapons should have their training transfer to the license. Other training should be spearheaded by organizations such as the NRA.
A license will also set standard for concealed carry and should apply to all firearms, including a waiting period for all weapons purchases (equalizing requirements for handguns & rifles/shotguns).
Current firearms legislation should be completely funded and enforced, to include prosecution of individuals who lie on weapons application and track the amount of weapons purchased by individuals to prevent resale (such as to drug gangs, etc).
