As a nation, we must ensure the safety of our school children.
To blame only guns, media, or the mentally ill is folly; extremist stances create nothing but arguments and no action.
Opportunities for compromise:
If guns are not banned, will that please gun owners? Yes!
If assault weapons are taken off the streets, will that please gun-control activists? Yes!
If sportsmen can shoot 30-round clips, will that please them? Yes!
If the mentally ill are kept from all high-caliber weapons and given background checks, will that satisfy virtually everyone? Yes!
Suggested Compromise:
- Don't fight the 2nd Amendment;
- Restrict assault weapons and high-end clips to registered shooting ranges;
- Register the mentally ill in a national database; restrict them/regulate their families re guns.
