We the people ask the federal government to Take or explain a position on an issue or policy:

Condemn the Apartheid State of Israel for their Human Rights Violations against the Palestinian peoples.

Created by J.P. on July 05, 2014

The purpose of my petition is to raise awareness of the plight of the Palestinian peoples under the Apartheid Regime in Israel.
I seek recognition by my government that without our American tax dollars Israel could not conduct such criminal acts against the civilian population of Palestine.

A Response to Your Petition on Israeli-Palestinian Relations

Thank you for signing on to a We the People petition entitled "Condemn the Apartheid State of Israel for their Human Rights Violations against the Palestinian peoples."

This is an important issue that the President cares deeply about.

As he has said often, the United States will never give up on the hope for peace between Israelis and Palestinians, and the United States will never stop working to realize that goal.

When he visited Ramallah two years ago, the President spoke directly to the Palestinian people, and the world, to state clearly that the Palestinians deserve an end to the occupation and daily indignities that come with it.

"Like people everywhere, Palestinians deserve a future of hope -- that their rights will be respected, that tomorrow will be better than today and that they can give their children a life of dignity and opportunity. Put simply, Palestinians deserve a state of their own."

-- President Obama

He also spoke to young Israelis during that trip, making the case for why peace between Israelis and Palestinians is necessary, just, and possible.

There's one thing that is abundantly clear: A two-state solution is also in the national security interest of the United States. That's why the U.S. has worked so hard over the years to secure that solution and to develop innovative ways to address the need for Israel's security and Palestinian sovereignty.

The Israeli government and the Palestinians need to demonstrate -- through policies and actions -- a genuine commitment to a two-state solution.

As both Israelis and Palestinians continue to work to find a path forward toward peace, President Obama remains committed to ensuring that the security, opportunity, and fundamental rights of both peoples form the foundation of any solution.
