We the people ask the federal government to Take or explain a position on an issue or policy:

Condemn the Australian government's unlawful and abusive detention of asylum seekers on Nauru.

Created by B.P. on August 11, 2016

For several years, the Australian government has been detaining refugees seeking asylum in an offshore detention center on the island of Nauru under conditions that have been recently exposed to be brutal, horrific and in violation of international human rights standards as part of an official policy of insuring that no refugees are settled in Australia, also in violation of international law. Recent reports have even come to include stories of abuse and neglect of children. We ask the Obama administration to condemn these actions by the Australian government in the boldest in strongest language possible.
