We call upon President Obama to condemn the disproportionate and violent police response to Occupy protesters, and to take action to ensure that the rights of all protesters are not abridged by threat of unreasonable police response. Incidents of unnecessary attacks against peaceful protesters not only pit citizens against one another but stifle free speech. President Obama, free speech is central to American values; it is threatened when citizens must fear chemical weapons and violent assaults in the course of nonviolent protest. Condemn the violence that has transpired so far, and work with the 99% to support Americans' right to free speech.
