condemn the gross human rights violations in Iraq, some of which may amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Created by L.W. on July 26, 2014

The UN has credible evidence that The “Islamic State” (IS) is persecuting religious and ethnic minorities in northern Iraq on the grounds of their religion and ethnicity. Minorities are being targeted by IS and affiliated armed groups and their members subjected to human rights violations including abductions, killings or the confiscation of their property. In Mosul for example, members of minority groups were given an ultimatum that by July 19, they should convert, pay a tax, leave the city, or face execution. We call on the Administration to condemn these gross human rights violations, some of which may amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity, including the targeting and killing of civilians, the looting of property and the destruction of religious sites.
