The Turkish government has called up military units to clear protesters out of city squares throughout Turkey. Tear gas, rubber bullets, and physical violence have been the tools of the police in dealing with protester and unions that have engaged in sympathy strikes.
Turkey is a major NATO ally and we should hold the Islamist government to the Democratic standards the American and Turkey people demand.
