Condemn the reported forced registration of Jews by pro-Russian forces in Eastern Ukraine.

Created by Y.V. on April 18, 2014

Armed men handed out leaflets this week in Donetsk, a province in Eastern Ukraine, calling on Jews register their religion and property with the interim pro-Russian government or face deportation and loss of citizenship.

Donetsk has a population of 4.3 million people - 10 percent of Ukraine's population - and 17,000 Jews.

The leaflet, reportedly signed by Chairman of Donetsk's temporary government Denis Pushilin, was distrbiuted to Jews near the Donetsk synagogue and later in other areas of the city.

The leaflet detailed what type of documents the Jewish citizens would need to supply, the consequences that would come to those who failed to abide by the new demands, and demanded the Jews pay a registration fee of $50.
