Ukrainian and foreign ultranationalist Neo-Nazi militias have been established, funded, and equipped, through the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs. Militias such as the Azov Battalion consist of foreign volunteers from Canada, Sweden, Italy, France and Russia as well as Ukrainian citizens. The Azov Battalion is currently spearheading the war front for the Ukrainian government. United States leadership needs to pressure the Ukrainian government to cut all of its ties to these organizations. Militia groups such as the Azov Battalion allow Russian propaganda to establish a sense of legitimacy in its efforts of labeling all of Ukraine's National Guard members as national socialists.
