We believe that the President of the United States, in his official capacity and concert with the Department of State, should formally denounce the apparent decision of the United Kingdom's Minister of State for Universities and Science to disregard the will of the British people and refuse to christen the newest British research vessel the "RRS Boaty McBoatface." In an overwhelming display of impassioned public participation, the subjects of the United Kingdom voted on the name of the new vessel, selecting that moniker by a margin of 124,109 votes.
The suggested intention of Minister Johnson to disregard the will of the British people should be condemned by the United States as an affront to democracy, media, science, and humor. Kind of like the movie "Starship Troopers."
