Marissa Alexander is a Florida citizen. She is also a mother of 3. On August 1, 2010 she was in her home, when her husband came by. He had previously been arrested for domestic violence against her and there was a standing injunction. After his arrival, he proceeded to attack his wife. She attempted to exit the house via the garage door, but was unable to. She then retrieved her gun from her vehicle, which she had a permit for and went back into her house to get a phone or get out of the front door. When her husband advanced on her, she raised her gun and fired into the ceiling. She was taken to trial, denied Stand your Ground and sentenced to 20 years in prison. The DA on her case was Angela Corry, who pressed for the 20 year minimum. Ms. Corry's actions should be investigated.
