Confirm that the 2nd amendment only applies to arms that were in existence on the date the amendment was adopted.

Created by R.C. on January 12, 2013

The authors of the second amendment of the Bill of Rights had no possible way of knowing what future "arms" would be available to people. They could not imagine the possible destruction that current firearms are capable of, as we cannot imagine what future firearms might be capable of. Therefore, this petition asks the administration to work to confirm that the second amendment only confirms the right of people to keep and bear arms that were in existence on or before the date of adoption, December 15, 1791. Any firearm created after December 15, 1791 is not covered by the second amendment as a legally bearable arm.
