Confirm Eric Fanning!

Created by N.H. on May 12, 2016

President Barack Obama nominated Eric Fanning to be Secretary of the Army on September 18, 2015. If confirmed, Fanning would be the nation’s first openly gay leader of a military service. However, his nomination has been blocked for eight months by Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) over policy disagreements on the detainees being held at Guantanamo Bay. This is an abuse of senatorial privilege. Even Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, has called for a vote -- comparing Robert’s move to “shooting a hostage.” And, the American People deserve better. The Senate should invoke cloture and bring Fanning's nomination to an immediate vote.
