In the wake of horrifying shooting massacres such as the one at Sandy Hook Elementary School, as well as other murders taking place in America's streets daily, we, the undersigned, believe a critical measure to preventing gun violence is making guns difficult to obtain.
Though citizens have become accustomed to being guaranteed gun ownership, it is more important that they be accustomed to not wondering if they or their children will be brutally gunned down at any moment.
As such, gun ownership should be restricted to the well-regulated militia described in the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution -- or, in modern terms, law enforcement and military personnel.
