There was just a very contentious and very expensive election. Some candidates won, more lost. Congratulate all of them, regardless of party, and then explain to them that we're all in this together and they need to compromise to actually get stuff done.
Compromise - noun - a settlement of differences by mutual concessions; an agreement reached by adjustment of conflicting or opposing claims, principles, etc., by reciprocal modification of demands.
