Congress to declare Election Day a national holiday. I would gladly give up Columbus Day in exchange.

The petition is important because it would give more people access to the Democratic Process. With so many Americans working two jobs or working long hours, they are unable to participate in the most basic tenement of our country - voting. This would also allow Americans time to do research on the candidates/propositions and make it easier for people to participate with organizations to help get out the vote.
