Congress should not be paid during the event of a government shutdown and their salary for that time should be donated.

Created by C.L. on September 27, 2013

The main responsibility of congress is to pass a budget and if they cannot fulfill this responsibility, they should not be paid. Millions of Americans who work in the federal government will be furloughed in the event of a government shutdown and probably will not be paid. If I did not complete my responsibilities at work, I would be the one who is not paid and I expect the same of the people who are supposed to represent me and serve the American people. Salary accrued by congress should go to something that will help the american people, such as a nonprofit that serves the homeless or veterans.
