In the age of false representation of issues and politicians protecting their campaign donors more than listening to the majority of the American people. They should not recieve pay when they are not doing their jobs. They can live off their campaign donations and pay for their false representations on media programs. Either work for the majority of American people or don't recieve pay at all.
