Congressional Pay Cut

Congress has Put this country on the verge of a government shutdown twice this year alone. Their partisan bickering, unwillingness to compromise and refusal to place the needs of their constituents above the needs of campaign contributors and special interest lobbyists are bringing the country to its knees. Though congress has repeatedly failed the people, they earn more than 93% of the population. The current salary for rank and file members of congress is $174,000 per year. This is ridiculous. I propose that congressional salary be computed based on the national minimum wage. I propose that congressional salary be reduced to 6 times the yearly salary of an individual working 40 hours per week at minimum wage. This would make the maximum congressional salary $90,480 per year.
