Congressmen and political parties seem to be more worried about the next election than what is good for America. They claim they understand and care about the people they represent, when their biggest worry is making certain the opposing party looks bad. They carelessly let our country operate without a real budget, borrowing money we can't afford, while casually giving themselves raises. For this purpose, I propose that the wages of elected officials should be performance based; calculated on approval ratings of the congress as a whole. This way we help prevent the bias of "my candidate is good, but the rest are bad" syndrome. If they aren't doing their job, they don't deserve to get paid.
