consider advocating for paid maternity leave.

Created by H.S. on February 23, 2013

The United States in one of only three countries (and the only industrialized country) that offers no form of paid maternity or paternity leave. It is the wealthiest country that refuses to do so, being in the company of Papua New Guinea (GDP $13 Billion) and Swaziland (GDP $4 Billion). Other countries understand that giving mothers and children the best start possible leads to benefits for society as a whole, including reduced unemployment and decreased reliance on state and government assistance.

FMLA is woefully inadequate, and only covers employees for large companies, which leave out those of us working for the small "job creators" we claim to love.
