Consider carefully any legislation requiring mental health service recipient records open to law enforcement scrutiny.

Created by C.S. on January 26, 2013

We the people of one of the most marginalized groups in society; those who have received a mental health diagnosis at some time in our lives, have a family member who has been diagnosed, or provide services, petition this administration to carefully consider the stigmatizing impact of future legislation against us.
Any gun control legislation that is worded in such a way that a person with a mental health diagnosis may not purchase a firearm will only create further barriers for those seeking services. The creation of registries of those receiving services is a direct violation of our civil rights, our human rights and our right to privacy.
Please honor, "Nothing about us, without us", when drafting legislation and not just the voices of those who are providing services. Hear our voice.
